Research: Knitting Designer - Kieran Pathak

I am very interested in knitted design. In my project, Nostalgia, I also want to use knitting technology as the main garment technology. I am therefore constantly researching knit designers who fit in with my design philosophy.

When I was researching knitting, I found a knitting designer who inspired me a lot, Kieran Pathak, whose knitted pieces have a very beautiful colour palette and many innovative techniques.

“Kieran’s practice contemplates an innate desire to challenge the traditional characteristics of knitted textiles.

Often seeking inspiration from alternative, more contemporary crafts and materials, his work questions how exploration of process can result in materials which enhance the aesthetic and functional properties of knitted fabrics.

This stems from a longing to create newness in a world of perpetual reiteration. Kieran combines a variety of techniques and processes with hopes of procuring innovation.”
