In her talk, Angela shared a range of work and study experiences that she has had since graduating. She believes that it is important to identify your future career goals early on during your studies, to keep expanding your knowledge and to be brave enough to try to apply for any job you think you can do. Her experience has been very helpful to me.
As I hadn't worked formally, I had a short internship with some clothing companies, but this was very different from working formally for one. Although my lack of work experience is one of my shortcomings, I have been planning my future study and career goals since I graduated from my undergraduate degree. As my studies and time have developed, I have continued to revise and improve my goals.
As there was less guidance on career planning in my country during my university education, I wasn't too confident about my job and career direction, and wasn't quite sure what kind of work I could do. But Angela's talk gave me very useful advice to identify every opportunity that helps and to be brave enough to try to apply for any job you think you can do. I was always too limited in my future career planning and missed out on many opportunities because I wasn't confident enough.
Therefore, I have decided to carefully organise my personal skills and actively analyse the various challenges and opportunities available at this stage in order to be able to effectively expand my range of employment.
